Description of Acapela TTS Voices Since the latest Google applications update most of the Google applications (Google maps and Google now for example) don't care anymore about the TTS settings and use only their own Google TTS voices. So please note that for the moment we cannot guarantee compatibility for these applications as this is a unilateral decision from Google. To keep using our voices in a Navigation GPS application we suggest to use the 'Navigator' or Sygic application or any other Google Speech API compatible application.

Well be careful of the latest samsung text to speech I downloaded it it has been successfully installed but is disabled and now in general settings in text to speech I can't change the rate of any tts I have excluding eloquence. When I am in the speech rate setting it says slow fast 50 percent Nothing I click on will alther the rate. Lucky eloquence can over ride these setting because if it could not I don't think I could alter the rate of any tts. I can't seem to remove this disabled samsung tts latest version engine. I was experimenting with other voices because I noticed when eloquence started speaking some times the first cilible was being left out so instead of unread I sometimes hear nread or the word adtion becomes ction. Yes I went to applications in settings and the applications manager and it also tells me the latest version is disabled but is taking up 24 megs of internal storage. I checked it out in the playstore but in both all and installed under my games and apps it's just not there.
I noticed while there there are a few apps that are listed as being installed htat are incompatible for this device. I am wondering if playstore restored thse from my old s5. Anyway so I thought I would log into my samsung account to see if I could remove the latest disabled version of there text to speech. I was informed that samsung are experiencing heavy traffic at the moment and to try later. So if I were you just don't try the latest samsung text to speech.
I've never seen the speech rate in general settings of tts list a percentage like eloquence unless that is normal for the s7. Hopefully someone knows how to enable the latest samsung tts.
The notification after the download said it was downloaded and installed successfully however I have never seen it enabled. Bernard Hemmings Primary email: secondary email: Mobile: 9. A few weeks ago someone was asking about a global pause and play with all players. Well with voice assist you just double tap the screen with two fingers and if you have something paused it will start playing or if something is playing it will pause and you can be on any screen you don't even need to unlock the device. There is a very nice menu you can set up in settings choosing what features you want to be able to access including audio ducking. To access the menu from any screen just swipe left or right with three fingers and you will be told what feature you are on and if it is on or off just swipe up or down with one finger to enable or disable the feature. I then became a bit concerned how you switch between line or character granularity I swiped down with 3 fingers and sorted that out.
In voice assist settings again you can set what will be read from the notifications panel like battery wifi and so on when you tripple tap with two fingers. When it comes time to access and interact with the notification panel just swipe down with one finger. I discovered these thing exploring voice assist for 5 minutes or so. I will be using it for a while to see if there are any major drawbacks and I am sure there will be but for my needs it is great and it would be nice to get rid of those horrible two part jestures.
To be able to enable and disable most things on the fly is very nice. Bernard Hemmings 1/9/2016, 3:11 น. In uUK english there are 2 downloadable voice packs both just under 8 megs and have several voices both male and female. The tird one on the first pack is nice with headphones but it might have two much base for phone seakers. Only problem with google male voices they sound hollow as if they are talking inside a bucket If they could remove some of that hollow sound some of those voices would be fantastic. They sound hollow with headphones but I guess through most phone speakers they would sound ok.

Yeah, I ended up skipping half the setup just so I could install Talkback and set things manually.
While voice assist is a neat idea, I found it very finiky with certain things. If focus left the edit box, it seemed to just randomly put you somewhere within that box, or sometimes the keyboard would disappear. Typing took a while but part of that could've been me still getting used to the screen and not being able to lock the orientation. Again, I may have missed some super key points, I skipped the tutorial because it looked like Talkback and I already knew how to use it, some of that might have been me being a little impatient (okay, maybe a bit more than a little.):P I'll have to mess more with it, but from what I remembered when I had the S6 it doesn't look like anythings changed. I was actually a little surprised tb wasn't installed by default, unless there was something I should've done pre setup.
Scott VanDeWalle 1/9/2016, 16:49 น. Try surfing the web with Samsung screen reader, you'll see that it doesn't have heading links and various other elements for web navigation. Nana tackle another question why buy a Samsung Galaxy line over a Nexus phone? It's a pretty easy answer, because Samsung has not put the screws to carriers forcing them to push updates in a timely manner and does it does not mean six months down the road. If Samsung does not want to be one of the manufacturers who causes fragmentation problems I'm hoping they learn and go forward tightly screwing down their thumbs across the carriers and forcing updates in a timely manner and again I don't need 6 months to a year it's udderly ridiculous Hi comma you ask what is wrong with Samsung screen reader and my answer is exclaim the web use and which Samsung screen reader are using are very old and has not been updated in a while Christopher Chaltain 1/9/2016, 21:36 น. Well, I prefer concrete examples like this over statements like bloatware or just the fact that it was forked from an older version of Talk Back.
Talk Back was at that same code base itself at one point. I couldn't find out when Voice Assistant was last updated, but I suspect it might have been fairly recently because the last time I switched from Talk Back to Voice Assistant, I had to allow it to access different aspects of my device. When I bring up Voice Assistant and the web browser I can navigate by web elements such as headings, controls and lists, so the statement that these granularity settings don't exist in Voice Assistant doesn't seem to be true. It's true Voice Assistant doesn't have some features, like custom actions. It also doesn't use the context menus, but not everyone likes the context menus. It has different ways of accessing Voice Assistant settings, the status of various levels on the phone and so on, and some people may like the features in Voice Assistant that you don't have in Talk Back.
I agree, I'd like to get updates sooner on my S7, but I don't need to be the first one to jump on an update, and I'm OK with waiting a bit. Also it's audio ducking feature works perfectly which has only happened recently with talkback as well. There are some things talkback says that voiceassist does not while the reverse is true. Right now it's very difficult to choose which one but being able to access many features through the quick access menu is just fantastic.
When I am about to select a notification or ringtone sound I swipe a couple of time disable audio ducking select what I want and when complete reenable that feature. The double tap pause, play feature works on most audio apps but unfortunately not on tunein radio for some odd reason so they must use a different pause resume command within the app. So far I've tried samsung's default music player and it's other audio file opener apps google play music utube smart audio book player and gonemad music player the screen can be locked or unlocked. Yes I am finding it difficult as to which one to use and it makes me very happy I purchased the s7 and can switch between the two screen readers. I don't know why but those two part jestures used by talkback just don't cut it for me. To get to notifications I do up and right. I know this is not the right one but hay it works for me most of the time. With voice assist it's much easier also when I touch the top of the screen the notification panel is spoken like it was under kitcat.
I just hope samsung keep developing voiceassist, who knows one day we might just see the end of the two part jesture and they could add more options to the quick access menu. Bernard Hemmings 2/9/2016, 0:46 น. The sound feedback might take a bit of getting used to as it's very different from talkback and in stereo. Also a feature I like is that when you get to the bottom or top of the screen voice assist will say first or last item then loop so if you are on the first or top most item on the screen if you swipe again you will be on the last item at the bottom of the screen. Both explore by touch and swiping work equally well and with the screen looping when you reach the top or bottom saves a lot of time. Angela Delicata 2/9/2016, 1:04 น. Angela voice assist is samsung's screen reader like google's talkback or apple's voiceover.
In the same way samsung's svoice the app you probably use is like google's ok google. I can't use Svoice or ok google apart from within the apps as I have set up android paid which requires a secure screen lock.
So when you enable voiceassist it warns you a number of apps including talkback can not run at the same time. If you do try voice assist you need to also change direct access because triple tapping the home key is still set to enable and disable talkback if you set this up in tripple Christopher Chaltain 2/9/2016, 20:34 น.

Scott VanDeWalle 3/9/2016, 12:31 น. Hi, Voice Assistant is a screen reader develop by Samsung and is base on Talkback's official source code. The latest version of Voice Assistant that found in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note7 are base on Talkback's v4.3.x source code. You will never found the screen reader in Playstore nor Galaxy store, because you are not able to use it on any devices accept those Samsung devices that package with it out-of-the-box.
Even if you are a Samsung phone owner and your device does not come with Voice Assistant by default, you are not able to use it although you have the apk file.
